The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban authorities in Kabul have allocated more than 1,100 jeribs of land for the construction of a pharmaceutical industrial park in the capital, according to the Taliban governor’s press office.
In a statement, the office said 1,116 jeribs of state-owned
land in Mir Bacha Kot district of Kabul were handed over to the Taliban
Ministry of Public Health on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, for the establishment of
a drug manufacturing industrial park.
Speaking at a handover ceremony, Ahmadullah Zahed, the
Taliban deputy minister for food and medicine, said the project aims to develop
domestic pharmaceutical production and will also create job opportunities for a
number of people.
The allocation comes as restrictions on importing medicines
from Pakistan have prompted several countries to express interest in supplying
pharmaceuticals to Afghanistan. Some have also indicated a willingness to
cooperate with the Taliban in local drug manufacturing, officials said.
