The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The News International has reported that King Charles hosted a private dinner at Windsor Castle to mark the first anniversary of Rahim Al-Hussaini’s accession as Aga Khan V, the hereditary spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community.
The palace shared a photo from the dinner on its official
social media, showing King Charles in a Windsor coat dinner jacket standing
beside the Aga Khan, who wore a black suit with a bow tie. The dinner was held
to honor Aga Khan’s first year as the 50th Imam of the Ismaili community.
The report noted that, following tradition, Rahim
Al-Hussaini was granted the title “His Highness” by King Charles upon his
accession. The relationship between the British monarchy and Ismaili Imams
spans generations, with the late Aga Khan IV maintaining a close personal
connection with Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles, receiving honors including
state-supported Jubilee events, a knighthood, and serving as Founding Patron of
The King’s Trust.
Rahim Al-Hussaini and his family also maintain strong ties
to the United Kingdom as British citizens.
