The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistani media outlet Dawn reported that eight people, including two Afghan women, were killed and three others injured in two separate shooting incidents in Panjgur district of Balochistan province on Monday.
According to officials quoted by Dawn, the first incident occurred in the Chidgi area, about 60 kilometers from Panjgur town, where armed motorcyclists allegedly belonging to a banned organization opened fire on two passing vehicles.
Panjgur Deputy Commissioner Kabir Zarkoon said those traveling in the targeted vehicles returned fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire that lasted for some time. When the shooting stopped, all six individuals traveling in the two vehicles were found dead. The attackers later set both vehicles on fire and fled the scene.
Security forces and relatives of the victims rushed to the area after being informed of the incident. However, family members reportedly did not allow the bodies to be transported to a hospital for medico-legal procedures.
The deceased were identified as Haji Dawood, Salim, Abdul Hameed, Haji Shahmir, Gahyas and Mehraj, residents of Nukker village near the Iranian border. Officials said the attackers, numbering more than a dozen, used heavy weapons, including rocket launchers.
In a separate incident in the Prom area of Panjgur, close to the Iranian border, security forces signaled two vehicles to stop. Officials said one of the vehicles attempted to flee, prompting security personnel to open fire.
The shooting left two Afghan women dead and three others injured. According to officials cited by Dawn, both vehicles were carrying Afghan nationals who had illegally entered Pakistan and were attempting to cross into Iran en route to Europe.
