The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Suraya Dalil, Afghanistan’s former public health minister, presented three proposals at a session of the United Nations Human Rights Council aimed at supporting the rights of women and girls in the country.
Addressing the council, Dalil said the voices of Afghan women and girls must be amplified, humanitarian assistance should remain people-centered, and targeted measures with individual accountability should be pursued.
“In every engagement with the Taliban, conditions must be clear and consistent,” she said, stressing that international efforts should be guided by firm principles and measurable benchmarks.
Her remarks came amid ongoing discussions at the council about the human rights situation in Afghanistan, particularly the restrictions imposed on women and girls since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.
