The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Gul Hassan Hassan, the Taliban’s ambassador and special representative in Moscow, met with Zamir Kabulov to discuss bilateral relations and recent tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to a statement from the Taliban embassy, the two
sides reviewed the current state of relations between Afghanistan and Russia
and explored ways to expand cooperation.
The Afghan side also shared information regarding what it
described as Pakistan’s violation of Afghan airspace and outlined the Taliban’s
official position on the matter, the statement said.
The meeting further addressed reports by certain Russian
media outlets which, according to the Taliban statement, have published
inaccurate and misleading information about Afghanistan.
Kabulov described the recent tensions between Afghanistan
and Pakistan as concerning and emphasized that disputes should be resolved
through dialogue and diplomacy. He added that Russia is prepared to play a
mediating role between the two countries if necessary.
Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have escalated in
recent months, with both sides exchanging accusations over cross-border
incidents and airspace violations. Russia, which has maintained diplomatic
engagement with the Taliban authorities since their return to power in 2021,
has repeatedly called for regional stability and political dialogue to prevent
further escalation.
