The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Fox News has reported that U.S. President Donald Trump said the conflict with Iran could be resolved within a five-day period if ongoing discussions between the two sides “go well.”
According to the report, Trump said his administration plans
to speak with Iran’s leadership later on Monday after what he described as
“major points of agreement” were identified.
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump
said the expected meeting would take place by phone, though he did not specify
which Iranian officials would be involved. He added that he has not spoken with
Mojtaba Khamenei, who was recently installed as Iran’s supreme leader.
“We’re gonna get together today,” Trump said, predicting
that the war could end within the next five days if the exchange proves
successful.
He added that Iran would either agree to a deal or,
“otherwise we’ll just keep bombing,” according to the report.
Trump initially announced the talks earlier in the day, a
claim that was denied by Iranian state media. However, he dismissed the denial,
saying some Iranian officials may be facing confusion due to disruptions in the
country’s communication infrastructure.
