The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The United Kingdom’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Richard Lindsay, said the country cannot achieve progress without the participation of women, citing a recent UN report highlighting worsening conditions.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Lindsay said no country can move forward while half of its population is deprived of education, employment, and public life.
He emphasized that every Afghan citizen has the right to live freely without fear of harassment or persecution.
Lindsay also called on the Taliban to respect the rights of all Afghans.
His remarks come as the United Nations reported that Taliban policies continue to impose widespread restrictions on the presence of women and girls in public life across Afghanistan.
According to the report by the UN human rights office, women and girls in Afghanistan face significant limitations across multiple sectors.
