The Kabul Tribune (KT) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a post on X that the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz is causing significant economic damage, stressing the need to restore global shipping to ease cost-of-living pressures.
Starmer said the United Kingdom has convened more than 40
countries that share the goal of restoring freedom of navigation through the
strategic waterway.
He added that the UK and France will co-host a summit this
week aimed at advancing a coordinated, independent, multinational plan to
safeguard international shipping once the conflict ends
The remarks come amid heightened global concern over
disruptions in one of the world’s most critical maritime routes for energy
supplies and trade.
