The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan said that construction work on the Yatim Taq cement production plant in Jowzjan province will begin on Monday, with an investment of $160 million.
Ministry spokesperson Hamayun Afghan said the facility will have a daily production capacity of 3,000 metric tons of cement and is expected to create around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The project is part of Afghanistan’s broader efforts in recent years to increase domestic production of construction materials, reduce reliance on imports, and expand employment opportunities within the country.
Cement production is considered a key sector for industrial development, and similar projects are reportedly under consideration or implementation in several provinces across Afghanistan.
