The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Recent flooding has forced the closure of the main highway linking Badakhshan and Takhar, local officials said.
Arian Azar, a Taliban official from the province’s Public Works Department, said cleanup and repair operations began at 5 a.m. on Sunday to reopen the road.
He said the available resources are limited and called for urgent support from the Taliban authorities and relevant institutions to restore traffic on the key route as soon as possible.
Officials have also urged travelers to avoid using the highway until further notice and to take alternative routes.
