The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Uzbekistan has announced the launch of a new multimodal cargo route connecting China with Afghanistan via Central Asia, according to Trend News, citing Uzbekistan’s national railway operator.
The operator, Uztemiryulkonteyner, said the route will
transport containerized cargo by rail from China through the Altynkol station
in Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, before reaching the Bukhara logistics center.
From there, shipments will be transferred onto trucks and
transported عبر Turkmenistan to the city of Herat.
Previously, cargo along this corridor was primarily shipped
via sea routes from China to Bandar Abbas in Iran, followed by overland
transport into Afghanistan.
The new route spans approximately 7,400 kilometers, with an
estimated delivery time of around 30 days, which is expected to improve
efficiency and reduce transit times for regional trade.
