The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Construction has begun on a new general hospital in Afghanistan's Jaghatu District at a cost of 48 million Afghanis, the Taliban's Ministry of Public Health said.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Monday, June 29, 2026, the Taliban's acting minister of public health, Noor Jalal Jalali, said the hospital is part of a nationwide initiative to expand healthcare services across Afghanistan's 318 districts.

According to Jalali, the hospitals are being built in remote and underserved areas where access to healthcare remains limited.

He said the Taliban aims to improve the availability of medical services in communities that have long lacked adequate healthcare facilities.
