The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Nearly 800,000 metric tons of goods were transported via Afghanistan’s railway network during the month of Jawza (May–June 2026), the Taliban-run Ministry of Public Works said.
The ministry said a total of 797,482 metric tons of cargo were moved through Afghanistan’s rail lines during the month.
Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas said the shipments included 2,517 metric tons of exports from Afghanistan to other countries, while the rest consisted of imported oil and non-oil goods brought into the country.
According to the ministry, the cargo was transported through the Hairatan, Aqina, Herat–Khaf and Torghundi railway corridors.
The Taliban said the increase in railway-based cargo movement reflects the expansion of trade, reduced transportation costs and strengthening of economic activity in the country.
