The Kabul Tribune (KT)— Afghanistan’s Kam and Air Pakistan International Airlines have signed an interline agreement aimed at making travel between Afghanistan and destinations in the Middle East easier for passengers, Dawn reported.

The agreement allows travelers to book connecting flights under a single reservation and avoid collecting and rechecking their baggage during transit at Islamabad International Airport.

Under the first phase of the arrangement, passengers will be able to travel on the Kabul-Islamabad-Dammam route through a unified booking.

Checked baggage from Kabul will be transferred directly to the connecting PIA flight in Islamabad, while passengers traveling to Gulf destinations can remain in the airside transit area and avoid immigration clearance in Pakistan, provided they do not leave the transit area.

The agreement creates a transit link between Afghanistan and major destinations in the Middle East through Islamabad, according to a PIA spokesman cited by Dawn.

Pakistan introduces mandatory vaccination proof

Meanwhile, Pakistan has introduced a requirement for passengers departing the country by air to have Nadra-integrated vaccination proof for polio, meningitis, yellow fever and influenza.

According to a directive issued by the Airport Health Department, passengers will not be allowed to travel internationally without the required vaccination proof.

Vaccination and online registration facilities are expected to become available at international departure lounges in the coming days. Passengers requiring vaccination at the airport have been advised to arrive six hours before their scheduled flights.

Payments for vaccinations will be made through the e-Sahulat Nadra platform, according to the directive.

For passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah, the federal government's civil dispensary has been designated as the only authorized vaccination center.

Airlines, including PIA, have been instructed to inform travel agents about the new requirements. Umrah pilgrims will be required to obtain a digital vaccination card from Nadra before traveling.

A PIA spokesman confirmed that passengers without the required vaccination proof will not be permitted to travel internationally and advised travelers to complete the requirements before arriving at the airport.
