The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan has summoned India’s chargé d’affaires to protest the killing of two Pakistani civilians by Indian Border Security Force personnel along the border, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said Saturday.
The incident occurred on Oct. 2 in the Bedian sector, the
ministry said in a statement dated Oct. 3.
Pakistan accused the Indian border personnel of using lethal
force against unarmed civilians, describing the incident as unjustified and
disproportionate. It rejected any attempt to characterize the deceased as
“infiltrators,” the statement said.
The ministry said the incident raised concerns about
violations of fundamental human rights, including the right to life, and the
protection of civilians under international law.
Pakistan called on India to conduct an immediate,
transparent and credible investigation, take appropriate disciplinary and legal
action against anyone found responsible, and share the findings and actions
taken with the Pakistani government.
The ministry also urged India to respect human rights and
international law, follow bilateral agreements and established border
procedures, exercise restraint and take measures to prevent similar incidents.
The statement did not identify the two civilians or provide
further details about the circumstances of their deaths. There was no immediate
response from Indian authorities included in the statement.
