The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has directed security agencies to refrain from arresting Afghan activists, minorities, and political figures residing in the country, Pakistani media reported Wednesday.
According to Dawn News, the ministry issued instructions
to all provincial governments — including the Islamabad Capital Territory and
Pakistan-administered Kashmir — to avoid detaining Afghan human rights
defenders, political figures, artists, members of the Ismaili community, and
former officials of Afghanistan’s previous government.
The Interior Ministry and other Pakistani authorities have
not yet commented publicly on the reported directive.
The reported order comes amid growing tensions between
Pakistan and the Taliban following recent border clashes. In recent days,
Islamabad has intensified the forced deportation of Afghan refugees, a move
that has drawn concern from rights groups and the international community.
