The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Iran executed at least 10 Afghan nationals in September, part of a sharp rise in executions compared to last year, Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said.
Hengaw, which monitors rights violations in Iran, said in a
report that a total of 187 prisoners were executed across the country’s prisons
last month. The group said only eight cases — about 4% — were publicly
announced by official Iranian outlets or judiciary-affiliated websites.
It added that 14 executions were carried out secretly,
without informing families or allowing prisoners a final meeting with
relatives.
According to the group, executions in Iran have increased by
140% compared to the same month last year.
Iran has not commented on the report.
