The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A new photo released by the Telegraph shows Afghan
suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal during the ambush attack on U.S. National Guard
members in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.
The image depicts Lakanwal dressed in black, armed with a
handgun, appearing to lie in wait for his targets. The photo was captured and
reported by Telegraph journalists in Washington.
The 29-year-old Afghan citizen allegedly opened fire on two
National Guard members, Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe, in the city center.
Beckstrom later died after being hospitalized, while Wolfe remains in critical
condition.
Lakanwal was injured and arrested by security forces
following the shooting. U.S. officials have described the incident as an
“ambush attack” and have initiated an investigation into the possibility of a
terrorist motive
