The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, focusing on regional stability, dialogue and opposition to external interference, according to a statement shared by China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman.

In a post on X, spokesman Lin Jian said Wang expressed China’s belief that the Iranian government and people would remain united, overcome challenges, maintain national stability and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests. He added that China hopes all parties will exercise restraint, value peace and resolve differences through dialogue, and said Beijing is ready to play a constructive role.

According to the statement, the call took place on Jan. 15, 2026. Araghchi briefed Wang on recent developments, saying unrest in the region was fueled by what he described as external instigation and that the situation had returned to stability. He said Iran is prepared to confront external interference while keeping the door open to dialogue, and voiced hope for a greater Chinese role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Wang reiterated China’s position in favor of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, opposing the use or threat of force in international relations and rejecting what he described as a return to the “law of the jungle.” He said China supports national stability and the protection of legitimate rights and interests in the region, and is willing to contribute constructively to those efforts.

The statements were released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry and could not be independently verified.
