The Kabul Tribune (KT) - An international initiative known as the Global Alliance has been launched to press allied governments to fulfil resettlement promises made to Afghan wartime allies after the withdrawal from Afghanistan, AfghanEvac said in a statement.

The Alliance is a joint project of AfghanEvac and Local Staff International, bringing together civil society organisations across allied nations to coordinate advocacy efforts and hold governments accountable.

It said tens of thousands of Afghan allies remain stranded, separated from their families or trapped in legal limbo despite having been approved or deemed eligible for relocation.

The Global Alliance said a mission is not finished simply because it has been declared over, but only when commitments are honoured. It called on governments to complete resettlement, protect legal pathways, guarantee lawful status and family reunification, and adopt binding standards to prevent similar failures in future missions.

The initiative includes partner organisations across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and Australia.
