The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Express Tribune reported that Talal Chaudhry, Pakistan’s deputy interior minister, said the suicide bomber who attacked a Shiite mosque in Islamabad is not an Afghan citizen. However, he noted that the attacker had traveled to Afghanistan multiple times in the past.
Speaking on the findings of ongoing investigations, Chaudhry
added, “At this moment, we cannot share much information because it is
important to reach those behind this attack. A detailed report will be released
within 72 hours.”
The explosion occurred during Friday prayers, killing at
least 31 people and injuring 169 others.
Chaudhry again pointed fingers at India, claiming Islamabad
has shared evidence of terrorism support with the international community,
including neighboring countries, and that “terrorism is being supported by
India.”
He further stated, “We have proof that India has tripled its
investment in this area. These terrorists do not attack for religion—they
attack for dollars. Whether it is the Baloch Liberation Army, Tehrik-i-Taliban
Pakistan, or any other group, all are funded by dollars.”
The deputy interior minister also said Pakistan has
repeatedly urged Afghan Taliban not to provide shelter to terrorists and to
avoid becoming tools of India. He warned, “These proxies will face the same
fate India experienced in May of last year.”
Earlier, Pakistan’s defense minister, Khawaja Asif, said the
suicide bomber had been traveling to Afghanistan and that there are indications
of links and collusion between India and the Taliban
