The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan’s military said its security forces killed four members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Dawn newspaper, which cited the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted overnight after reports about the presence of individuals affiliated with what Pakistani authorities refer to as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term the government uses for the TTP.
The report said an intense exchange of fire took place between security forces and armed individuals, resulting in the deaths of four militants. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site, according to the statement.
The military said the individuals were allegedly involved in multiple militant activities in the region and added that clearance operations were ongoing to eliminate other affiliated elements.
The development comes days after a deadly attack on a security checkpoint in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which, according to the Pakistani military, involved a vehicle-borne explosive device and resulted in the deaths of 11 security personnel.
