The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Nearly 300 children have been killed in the Middle East over the past 10 days as violence escalates across the region, the aid group Save the Children said.

In a report released Tuesday, March 9, 2026, the organization warned that the surge in conflict has created a rapidly expanding humanitarian crisis, placing the lives and rights of children across several countries at serious risk.

According to the group, at least 100 million children live in countries directly affected by the recent violence in the Middle East and surrounding regions, exposing them to threats of death, injury, psychological trauma, and displacement.

The report said many children in the region had already endured years of war and insecurity and are once again facing fear, death, and forced displacement.

In Iran, more than 100 children were reportedly killed in attacks on two schools, while in Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes left 102 people dead, including at least 10 children, and injured more than 638 others.

The organization added that around 500,000 people, including 175,000 children, were forced to flee their homes following evacuation orders in southern Beirut and parts of southern Lebanon.

In Gaza Strip and the West Bank, rising tensions have further worsened conditions for children and families. After border crossings into Gaza were closed on Feb. 28, only one crossing has partially reopened, allowing limited humanitarian aid to enter the territory.

Save the Children said children continue to pay the highest price in conflicts in which they play no role, urging all parties to immediately halt hostilities and respect international humanitarian law.

The organization also announced that it has allocated $2 million from its emergency fund to support affected children and families across the region.
