The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Zabihullah Mujahid said in a post on X that Taliban security and defense forces will temporarily suspend defensive operations against Pakistan on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
According to Mujahid, the decision was made in observance of
the upcoming holiday and in response to requests from countries including Saudi
Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar.
He said the Taliban appreciate the goodwill and mediation
efforts of these countries, while emphasizing that they consider the protection
of Afghanistan’s national security, territorial integrity, and the safety of
its citizens a national and religious responsibility.
Mujahid added that any threats would be met with a response.
Pakistan had earlier announced a temporary pause in its own
military operations against Afghanistan ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
Attaullah Tarar said the government of Pakistan has
announced a temporary pause in its ongoing military operation, citing the
upcoming Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr. In a statement, Tarar said the
decision was made on Pakistan’s own initiative and following requests from
several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.
