The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan has conveyed a proposal from the United States to Iran and has expressed readiness to host talks aimed at reducing tensions in the Gulf region, Dawn newspaper reported.

Citing a senior Iranian official who spoke on condition of anonymity, the report said the move signals limited willingness from Tehran to explore diplomatic solutions, although Iran has officially denied engaging in any negotiations with the administration of Donald Trump.

According to the report, details of the U.S. proposal have not been publicly disclosed. However, some Israeli sources indicated that it may include halting uranium enrichment, limiting Iran’s ballistic missile program, and ending support for regional allies.

Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, reiterated that no direct or indirect negotiations have taken place between Tehran and Washington, while noting that friendly countries remain in contact with both sides to help ease tensions.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Islamabad is ready to host “meaningful and result-oriented” talks if both sides agree.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Pakistan’s offer, describing it as “timely and constructive,” and urged both the United States and Iran to respond positively, emphasizing that there is still room for diplomacy.

The report added that diplomatic efforts have intensified in recent days, with Pakistani officials, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, holding repeated contacts with Iranian counterparts. Sharif has also held multiple discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The developments come amid rising tensions in the region and growing concerns over a wider escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
