The Kabul Tribune (KT) - The U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced that starting this summer, the signature of President Donald Trump will be printed on U.S. dollar banknotes.
According to Reuters, under this decision, new $100 bills will be issued beginning in June bearing the signatures of Donald Trump and Scott Bessent, with other denominations to gradually enter circulation.
The report states that this move coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence.
Meanwhile, the signature of the U.S. Treasurer, which has appeared continuously on banknotes since 1861, will be removed for the first time.
U.S. officials have said that the overall design of the banknotes will not change, and only the signatures will be updated.
They added that this step is part of broader efforts by the Trump administration to highlight his name across national institutions and symbols.
This marks the first time in modern U.S. history that the signature of a sitting president will be printed on the country’s currency.
