The Kabul Tribune (KT) - The Taliban say that this year’s national Kankor exam will begin on May 11.

Abdul Baqi Haqqani, head of the Taliban’s National Examination Authority, said the exam will be conducted in four phases. The first phase will take place on May 11 in 15 provinces, followed by the second phase on May 18 in 18 provinces. The third phase will be held on June 2 in Kabul, and the fourth phase on June 12 in various locations.

According to him, the Ministry of Higher Education has set this year’s intake capacity for higher education at 74,505 students, while the estimated number of Kankor participants is around 120,000.

He added that the total intake capacity for higher and semi-higher education this year will reach 111,885 students.

This comes as, since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, girls have been banned from education beyond grade six and are also not allowed to participate in the Kankor exam.
