The Kabul Tribune (KT) - Thousands of troops from the United States Army, including units from the 82nd Airborne Division, have begun arriving in the Middle East as the United States increases its military presence in the region, according to Reuters.

The deployment comes as President Donald Trump considers possible next steps amid ongoing tensions involving Iran. Officials say the move is part of broader planning that could expand military options if required.

The newly deployed forces are based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and include command units, logistical support teams, and a brigade combat team. They are joining thousands of additional U.S. personnel already sent to the region, including sailors, Marines, and special operations forces. Around 2,500 Marines arrived over the weekend.

U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, did not confirm the exact locations of the deployments but said the military buildup had been expected.

While no decision has been made to deploy troops inside Iran, the additional forces are intended to strengthen operational readiness and provide flexibility for possible future actions.
