The Kabul Tribune (KT) - Reuters reported that U.S. President Donald Trump said in a televised address that the U.S. military has nearly achieved its objectives in Iran, but did not provide a clear timeline for ending the conflict, which is now in its fifth week.

Trump said U.S. forces had destroyed Iran’s navy and air force and significantly weakened its missile and nuclear capabilities. However, he offered no detailed plan for how the war would conclude, saying only that it would be finished “very fast.”

He also said the United States holds a strong advantage in the conflict and suggested Iran has limited leverage.

In the speech, Trump did not address key unresolved issues, including Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and the status of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route. He said the strait would reopen “naturally” after the war ends.

The 19-minute address provided few new details and did not ease concerns among U.S. allies or the public. Following the remarks, oil prices rose while stock markets fell, reflecting expectations that the conflict could continue.
