China Says Taliban-Pakistan Talks Progressing Steadily

The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Talks between the Taliban and Pakistan are progressing in an orderly manner under China’s facilitation, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, said on April 3, 2026, during a press briefing that Beijing is actively facilitating the negotiations and that both sides have welcomed China’s mediating role.
The remarks come as Pakistan’s Dawn described the talks as the first significant diplomatic engagement between the two sides since the recent clashes began.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry have also confirmed that delegations from both sides traveled to China for the talks.
