The Kabul Tribune (KT) - In Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, eight people have died in separate incidents after roofs of houses collapsed.

In the Angur Bagh area of Jalalabad city, the capital of Nangarhar, five people were killed and two others were injured when the roof of a house collapsed.

In another incident in the Gandomak village of the Sherzad district, three women were also killed due to a house roof collapse.

Officials say such incidents have been happening in several provinces following recent heavy rains across the country.

The main cause of these accidents is believed to be poor-quality and non-standard housing construction.

This comes as Afghanistan has experienced continuous rainfall for nearly two weeks, leading to flooding in many provinces. The floods have so far killed 71 people nationwide.
