The Kabul Tribune (KT) - The United Nations says that ongoing severe weather and recent flooding have worsened the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said in a press briefing that heavy rainfall and floods across different parts of the country have caused significant loss of life and widespread damage.

According to available information, nearly 100 people have died, more than 180 have been injured, and several others remain missing.

He added that thousands of homes have been destroyed or severely damaged, while critical infrastructure and agricultural land in many areas have suffered serious losses.

Dujarric noted that Nangarhar Province has been the hardest hit, a region that had already experienced a devastating earthquake last September.

Earlier, the Taliban reported that more than 160 people were killed and nearly 300 others, including women and children, were injured due to the recent floods.
