The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A key road linking Kamdesh and Barg-e Matal districts in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province has reopened after being closed for nearly two months due to clashes, local Taliban authorities said.
Faridun Samim said on Monday, April 13, 2026, that the road was reopened following mediation efforts by tribal elders from both sides.
He said civilian and private vehicles are now allowed to use the route, restoring movement between the two districts.
Samim added that discussions are ongoing to reach a comprehensive resolution to the issue.
Residents said the prolonged closure had negatively affected daily life and access to healthcare services in the area.
