The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Four people were killed and three others injured in an armed attack on a mosque in northern Afghanistan’s Baghlan province, Taliban officials said.

Sher Ahmad Burhani, a Taliban police spokesperson in Baghlan, said the incident took place Monday evening, April 13, 2026, during evening prayers at a mosque in Khwaja Hijran district.

According to him, armed individuals opened fire on worshippers, causing heavy casualties.

Preliminary investigations indicate the attack stemmed from a family dispute and personal enmity, Burhani added.

He also confirmed that two suspects were arrested by Taliban security forces following the incident, and investigations into the motive and details of the attack are ongoing.

Baghlan has previously witnessed similar incidents, with local officials citing an increase in personal and family disputes as a key factor behind such violence in some areas.
