The Kabul Tribune (KT) — More than 800 Afghan migrant families returned to Afghanistan in a single day, the Taliban-run commission for addressing migrant issues said, amid an increase in deportations from Iran and Pakistan.

According to the commission, a total of 825 families entered the country, including 667 through Torkham, 93 via Spin Boldak, 51 through Pul-e Abrisham, and 14 through Islam Qala crossings.

The commission added that a day earlier, 902 migrant families had also returned to Afghanistan.

The development comes as the pace of deportations of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan has accelerated in recent weeks.

Reports indicate that many of the returnees have been forced to go back due to economic pressures, lack of legal residency documents, and increasingly strict migration policies in the two countries.

At the same time, international organizations have raised concerns over the challenges faced by returnees, including shortages of shelter, unemployment, and limited access to basic services.
