The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Reuters has reported that two Indian-flagged vessels carrying crude oil were attacked on Saturday while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
In response, India summoned Mohammad Fathali, Tehran’s
ambassador to New Delhi, for a meeting with Vikram Misri. During the meeting,
Misri conveyed India’s “deep concern” over the reported shooting incident
involving the two vessels.
He urged the ambassador to relay India’s position to
authorities in Iran and called for the swift resumption of efforts to
facilitate the safe passage of India-bound ships through the waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route,
has long been a flashpoint for regional tensions, with a significant portion of
the world’s oil shipments passing through it daily.
