The Kabul Tribune (KT) — RIA Novosti reported that the Taliban are expected to sign several economic agreements at the upcoming Russia–Islamic World economic forum in Kazan.
Rustum Khabilullin, head of the Russian business center in Afghanistan, said three contracts are planned, including Taliban purchases of Russian oil products, imports of agricultural goods, and an investment agreement involving a Russian construction company for infrastructure development in Afghanistan.
The forum is scheduled to take place in Kazan from May 13 to 15.
In August 2025, Taliban Minister of Mines and Petroleum Hedayatullah Badri attended a petroleum and gas forum in Kazan and called on Russian companies to invest in Afghanistan’s energy sector, including oil and gas development.
