The Kabul Tribune (KT) — UN-Habitat Afghanistan said in a post on X that Afghanistan is undergoing rapid urbanization, with projections indicating that one in every two Afghans will live in cities by 2060.
The agency described the shift as a significant
transformation in a relatively short period, emphasizing the need to manage
urban growth effectively.
UN-Habitat called for turning this trend into an opportunity
to promote sustainable development, economic growth, and long-term prosperity
across Afghanistan.
The statement highlights the growing importance of urban
planning and infrastructure as the country’s population increasingly moves
toward cities.
