The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban have called for an end to ongoing clashes with Pakistan during a meeting with the United Kingdom’s special envoy for Afghanistan, while discussions also covered security, migration, and humanitarian assistance issues.
Abdul Wase, chief of staff of the Taliban prime minister’s office, held talks with Richard Lindsay, the Taliban-run administration said in a statement released by the presidential office.
During the meeting, Abdul Wase urged an immediate end to the recent hostilities with Pakistan, expressing concern over reported attacks on civilian areas, including universities and residential homes. He said such incidents were unacceptable and stressed that stability along the border is in the interest of both countries.
He reiterated that the Taliban do not allow any group to use Afghan territory against others and called on Pakistan to honor its commitments and work toward reducing tensions. According to the statement, he said the Taliban have consistently supported efforts to resolve disputes through dialogue and strengthen peaceful relations with neighboring countries.
The UK envoy reportedly expressed condolences over civilian casualties and called for renewed efforts to strengthen the peace process between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also urged the Taliban to facilitate the passage of humanitarian aid into Afghanistan through Pakistan.
The meeting comes amid renewed cross-border tensions, including recent reported Pakistani strikes in Kunar province that caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
