The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Richard Lindsay, the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, underscored the importance of freedom of expression, saying Afghan journalists continue to play a vital role despite challenging conditions.
Marking World Press Freedom Day, he said he recently met
Afghan journalists who are working to reflect the concerns of the public and
give a voice to those most in need.
World Press Freedom Day is observed annually on May 3 to
promote press freedom and the safety of journalists worldwide.
The day also serves as a reminder of the challenges
journalists face, particularly in countries where restrictions, threats and
limited access to information continue to affect independent reporting.
