The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A former Afghan special operations soldier has been killed in an incident in Bracknell, the United Kingdom, according to Bracknell News.
First Lieutenant Abdul Wali Mamozai, 33, was found dead on
April 26, 2026, in a car park near the Market Inn pub, close to Bracknell
railway and bus stations. Police later arrested four men, aged 35, 33, 33 and
27, on suspicion of murder and assault. They have since been released on bail
while investigations continue.
Mamozai had served with Afghan special forces and worked
alongside British troops. He relocated to the United Kingdom after the fall of
Kabul in August 2021 and was granted refugee status under a government
resettlement program.
His wife, Habiba Haidari, 34, who is expecting their child,
said she became concerned when he did not return home on the night of April 26.
She said she repeatedly tried to contact him before reporting him missing.
According to reports, Mamozai had initially stayed in
Crawley, West Sussex, before moving to Bracknell, where he had been working at
a local car wash. He had also received military training with British forces
and completed a leadership course with U.S. special forces in 2020.
Local sources said he had been involved in an argument with
several men at the Market Inn pub late on April 25, shortly before his death.
Police confirmed that Mamozai died at the scene and said a
complex investigation is underway. Officers have urged anyone with information
to come forward.
Local Member of Parliament Peter Swallow described the
incident as “deeply shocking” and expressed sympathy with the victim’s family.
Authorities said specially trained officers are supporting
the victim’s relatives as inquiries continue.
