The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan’s passport has once again been ranked as the weakest in the world, according to the latest report by the Henley Passport Index.

The index, which is based on data from the International Air Transport Association, evaluates passports by the number of destinations their holders can access without a visa.

According to the report, Singapore ranks first globally, with its citizens able to travel visa-free to 192 destinations.

In contrast, Afghan passport holders can travel to only 23 countries without a visa, placing Afghanistan at the bottom of the global ranking.

The index also lists Syria, Iraq and Pakistan among countries with the weakest passports.

The report attributes the low ranking to factors such as political instability, prolonged conflict and rising migration trends, which have limited the global mobility of citizens from these countries.

In recent years, travel restrictions on Afghan nationals have increased, with many countries tightening visa requirements, directly affecting access to opportunities in trade, education and medical treatment.
