The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works said that more than 229,000 metric tons of goods were transported through Afghanistan’s railway network over the past week.

According to a statement from the ministry, a total of 229,536 metric tons of goods were transported between April 24 and April 30, 2026.

The ministry said that 264 metric tons of the total were exports sent to various countries, while the remaining volume consisted of petroleum and non-petroleum imports brought into Afghanistan.

The shipments were carried out via key rail routes, including Hairatan, Aqina, Torghundi, and the Herat–Khaf Railway.

In recent years, the transport of commercial goods via Afghanistan’s railway network has increased, as the Taliban seek to expand regional transport corridors and raise import and export levels to strengthen economic activity.
