The Kabul Tribune (KT) — At least six children were injured in a landmine explosion in central Maidan Wardak Province, Taliban officials said Thursday.
According to the Taliban’s provincial police command, the incident occurred Wednesday afternoon in the Ormur area of Daimirdad district, reportedly due to children playing with the device and mishandling it.
The injured children were transferred to a provincial hospital in Maidan Shar for treatment, with the condition of three described as critical.
The incident comes amid ongoing concerns over unexploded ordnance in Afghanistan. A day earlier, similar explosions in Nangarhar Province and Parwan Province killed two children and injured four others.
