The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s commission for permanent settlement and land distribution says it has allocated residential land plots to returnee migrant families across 11 provinces over the past week.
According to the commission, a total of 9,352 families received land plots during the period. The distribution included 3,270 families in Nangarhar Province, 1,260 in Laghman Province, 960 in Zabul Province, 517 in Farah Province, 66 in Bamyan Province, 495 in Sar-e Pol Province, 550 in Samangan Province, 934 in Balkh Province, 600 in Jowzjan Province, 300 in Kunduz Province, and 400 in Ghazni Province.
The commission added that, in total, 18,904 families have so far received residential land plots, and the process is continuing at a rapid pace.
The development comes amid a recent surge in the return of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan and Iran.
Many returnees are reportedly coming back due to economic hardship, lack of legal documentation, and stricter policies in host countries, increasing pressure on local resources and settlement efforts within Afghanistan.
