The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Dawn reported that at least 15 police personnel were killed in a suicide attack targeting a police post in northwestern Pakistan.

The attack took place late Saturday night at the Fateh Khel police post in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, when a vehicle loaded with explosives was driven into the facility, triggering a powerful blast.

According to Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan, a total of 18 police personnel were present at the post at the time of the attack, of whom 15 were killed and three others were injured.

Police said that following the explosion, armed attackers opened heavy fire and launched an assault on the post from multiple directions. Several additional explosions were reported in the area, causing panic among local residents.

A senior administrative official told AFP on condition of anonymity that the attackers used quadcopters along with heavy weapons during the assault.

Sources said communication with the Fateh Khel police post was briefly lost after the attack.

The blast destroyed the police post completely and also damaged an armored vehicle stationed at the site. Nearby buildings suffered significant damage due to the intensity of the explosion, while local hospitals declared an emergency following the incident.
