The Kabul Tribune (KT) — International Organization for Migration (IOM) said recent flash floods triggered by heavy rains have affected around 2,000 families in eastern Nangarhar Province.
In a statement shared on social media, IOM said the floods
caused damage to homes, livelihoods and personal belongings of affected
communities.
The organization said it has distributed relief items to
support impacted families and is continuing to assess needs while delivering
further humanitarian assistance in the affected areas.
Afghanistan remains highly vulnerable to natural disasters,
including floods, droughts and earthquakes, which frequently worsen
humanitarian conditions, particularly in rural areas. Aid agencies have
repeatedly warned that climate-related shocks, combined with economic
challenges, are increasing the needs of millions of people across the country.
