The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban provincial administration in Panjshir said three health centers for the treatment of mental illness have been constructed and put into operation in the Paryan district.

According to a statement from the provincial authorities, the facilities were built at a cost of $200,000.

Officials said the centers are intended to provide treatment and support services for people suffering from mental health conditions and are expected to improve access to essential healthcare services for local residents.

The project comes amid growing mental health challenges in Afghanistan, driven by years of conflict, poverty and social pressures.

Health organizations say treatment facilities for mental illness remain limited across the country, leaving many people without adequate access to care.

Experts say the establishment of such centers could play an important role in improving treatment and rehabilitation services for individuals affected by mental health conditions.
