The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works says it has launched rehabilitation and repair work on the Kabul–Parwan highway at a cost of 174 million Afghanis.
Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas said the project was officially started on Wednesday by the Kabul Department of Public Works and will cover the stretch from the Kuchkin area to the Sufian Bridge in Parwan province.
According to Haqshanas, the project includes repair work on both sides of a 16.8-kilometer section of the highway, and the contract has been awarded to a private company.
The Kabul–Parwan highway is considered one of Afghanistan’s key transit and commercial routes, linking the capital Kabul with the northern provinces and their economic and transportation networks.
