The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs says 561 Afghan detainees were released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan during the current week.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry said the individuals had been detained in Pakistan for lacking legal documentation and were later released and repatriated through the Torkham and Chaman–Spin Boldak border crossings.

The statement added that humanitarian assistance was also provided to the returnees upon their arrival in Afghanistan.

According to the ministry, 491 Afghan detainees were also released and returned from Pakistani prisons last week.
